On Monday, October 22, 2018 vote

for Kanata North City Councillor

Dear Friends and Neighbours in Kanata North,

The recent passing of the great Bill Teron - the man who designed old Kanata - reminds us of the Kanata we all love and admire. A    community where residents and businesses co-exist with nature in a harmonious way. I had the opportunity to work with Bill on            development files, and his vision continues to inspire me.

I believe, however, that developers have lost sight of his vision. Rampant deforestation and cookie-cutter buildings are not what we  want to see. We need a return to balance. A community where the councillor represents residents, not developers or big business, where residents have the power to shape development of their communities, and receive the services they deserve.

Kanata North is a great community - but I know it can be better. I believe in the people of Kanata North, and my mission is to serve      them with passion and vision as City Councillor.

I have been a school teacher here for 17 years, and since 2005, in my free time, I have been a fierce advocate for Kanata North. As    president of the Briarbrook & Morgan’s Grant Community Association I pushed for the construction of the Terry Fox Drive extension, the greening of the hydro corridor, better transit, and with my team, we organized events for the community, including the Kanata North Multicultural Festival.

Later, as president of the Kanata Lakes Community Association, along with Beaverbrook’s CA and BMGCA, I passionately advocated for Kanata’s inclusion in the Light Rail plan. That mission continues to this day.

I will not rest until we, the people of Kanata North, are better served in every way.

In 2014 I placed a strong second to the now-retiring councillor, Marianne Wilkinson. She retires with my utmost respect for her service to this community. This election, with your support, I’m confident that I can bring a fresh, energetic approach to how things are done here at home in Kanata North and at City Hall.

I believe we need a councillor who lives in the ward, who will stand up for the people, and has demonstrated long-term commitment to this community. I believe I am that person, and I humbly ask for your support on Election Day, October 22nd.

Please call or email me at any time – I’m here to serve you!

Warm regards,

""Matt, I have always enjoyed your intellect, your energy and       enthusiasm. You will make a  great councillor or mayor. "

- Bill Teron, 2013"
